A letter to the best wedding creators in the world by Josh Withers
Glenn was one of the first people I ever met in the wedding industry who ran the kind of operation I could aspire to run. Not in size or staff, but in professional operations and generosity. I still remember the first time I worked with him over a decade ago and he was helpful, complimentary, and just lovely. He's still a gem today, even more so.
So you'd think his Friends On Friday post would be something touchy/feely. But here's Glenn on how he stays calm:
I think the biggest thing wedding service providers need to know is how important data tracking is to their business.
By knowing what metrics to track and then tracking them weekly, monthly, quarterly etc, they are then able to make decisions based on data and not emotion.
So many times I hear people saying "it seems quiet" which is so vague. What does the data say? Is it always quiet in this month? Or is it actually quiet and by how much. What were the upstream factors that made it quiet. Were enquiries busy 3 months back when you were crazy busy with events and didn't have a change to get back to people and now you're quiet.
Especially for solo operators, it's easy to forget one aspect of your business when you get busy with another. Having good data over time allows you to spot those trends when you need help and when it's a good idea to hire an assistant, even on a temp basis) to help you thrive and hit your goals.
